They’re not that nice, at least not in the second trailer for writer and director Shane Black‘s comedic crime thriller, “The Nice Guys.“ Taking place in 1970s Los Angeles, the film centers on down-on-his-luck private eye and single father Holland March (Ryan Gosling). March is investigating the apparent suicide of a fading porn star before he is then involved in a case alongside mob enforcer and tough guy Jackson Healy (Russell Crowe). As it is revealed in the trailer the suicide March was investigating is connected to the missing daughter of a District Attourney (Kim Basinger) named Amelia (Margaret Qualley). March and Healy get dragged into a conspiracy involving sex, drugs, disco, the mob, and a giant bumblebee.
The film also stars Matt Bomer, Keith David, and Ty Simpkins and was also co-written by Anthony Bagarozzi. Silver Pictures and Waypoint Entertainment are the production companies with distribution coming from Warner Bros. Pictures. “The Nice Guys” is set for a release date on May 20, 2016.
