There is some good news and bad news for fans of The Little Prince. Paramount Pictures dropped the film unexpectedly, but Netflix was not too far behind to pick up the pieces. The global conglomerate will pick up right where Paramount left off.

It is unclear why Paramount dropped the picture and they left audiences stunned. Both the director Mark Osborne and producers Dimitri Rassam and Aton Soumache were surprised as well.

“The Little Prince” did well in its native country, France, and made over $100 million to date in other international territories. The film had a very impressive voice cast with stars such as Jeff Bridges, Rachel McAdams, Paul Rudd, Marion Cotillard, James Franco and Benicio del Toro.

The film is adapted from the book by Antoine de Saint-Exupery, and follows a pilot who crashes in the Sahara Desert. He finds a little blonde haired boy who is a prince on a foreign planet called Asteroid 325.

Netflix has not set a release date as of yet but expect it to come out sometime this year.
