Jack Huston will be playing the character of Judah Ben-Hur in the upcoming Timur Bekmambetov directed retelling of “Ben-Hur. Now, pictures of Hutson and a trailer have been released of him portraying the famous character. The role was most-famously portrayed by Charlton Heston in 1959’s 11 Academy Award Winning film by the same name.

Bekmambetov has stated that in Huston he found an actor that is well-built, experienced horseman” but also “felt like he was born in that era,” adding “I wouldn’t be surprised if some of Jack’s many famous ancestors took part in an actual fight between Romans and Judaeans we depict in our film.”

The cast for the new film will also include Toby Kebbell as Messala, Nazanin Boniadi as Esther, Rodrigo Santoro as Jesus, Pilou Asbæk as Pontius Pilate, and Morgan Freeman as Ilderim. The new film will be slightly different from the 1959 classic as it will be closer to the original 1880 novel by Lew Wallace. “Ben-Hur” will release August 12, 2016.
