Actors Jason Mitchell and Ellar Coltrane will be collaborating together for the upcoming independent film feature “Barry.” The two have previously starred in “Straight Outta Compton” and “Boyhood,” respectively.
“Barry” is the story of U.S. president Barack Obama’s college life in New York City. “Kumare” producer Vikram Gandhi will be taking the role of film producer in re-telling the life of a young Obama. Furthermore, the future feature will be produced by the companies Cinetic Media and Black Bear Pictures. Black Bear Pictures is well-known for producing “The Imitation Game,” and the upcoming movies “Gold” and “Suburbicon.”
Adam Mansbach, the bestseller comedic storybook author of “Go the F**k to Sleep,” was chosen to write the screenplay for “Barry.” Meanwhile, actors Devon Terrell and Anya-Taylor Joy will be the stars of the movie. Production will begin at the end of this month.
