After Robert Schwentke decided to drop out, a new director has quickly been found for the last “Divergent series” film “Ascendant.”

Lee Toland Kreiger of “Age of Adaline” is in talks to direct the final sequel. Kreiger is responsible for indie films such as indie drama December Ends, The Vicious Kind, and Celeste & Jesse Forever.

Although nothing has been finalized Kreiger joins a franchise that has centered on young Tris played by Shaeline Woodley who takes on an over-simplified system of government that sorts citizens into a series of Factions based on their personality traits. In the upcoming “Allegiant” which hits theaters in 2 weeks, Tris and her friends venture further out in the dystopian world as they travel over the wall and out into the unknown.

Ascendant, will begin filming this summer, and will open on June 9, 2017.
