Emily Blunt ( “Into The Woods”, “Sicario”) is in talks right now to star in the titular role of Mary Poppins in the upcoming sequel to the 1964 film of the same name. Blunt’s name was at the top of the list when the announcement of a sequel film was first made.

Rob Marshall is directing this untitled movie, which will be set 20 years after the first film The story is set in Depression-era London and revolves around a fully grown Michael Banks, who has children of his own. His big sister Jane returns during the rough times and soon after, their beloved Mary Poppins comes back as well.

It will also continue to adapt from the book series that P.L. Travers wrote.

Marshall will also be producing alongside Marc Platt and John DeLuca. Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman will be composing new songs as well as an all-new score. David Magee is set to write the screenplay.

The Mary Poppins sequel currently has no release date set.
