SAG award nominee Johnny Depp is in talks to join South American crime thriller “Triple Frontier.” The movie which is directed by J.C Chandor (“A Most Violent Year“), is set in the infamous border zone between Paraguay, Argentina and Brazil where the Iguazu and Parana rivers meet thus giving it the name “la triple frontera.” This particularly location is difficult to monitor and is a safe haven for organized crime to go down.
The project has been in the works for sometime. Tom Hanks has been reached out to do the project. Even Will Smith was at one point, however Smith declined due to his filming schedule with “Collateral Beauty.” Depp has not yet committed to the project but is said to be engaged in it.
Oscar winning screen writer Mark Boal (“The Hurt Locker”) has written the script while Charles Roven and Alex Gartner are producing the picture. The release date and full cast have yet to be announced
