The Script for “Star Wars: Episode VIII” is reportedly undergoing rewriting.

According to a report from The Wrap, a rewrite could possibly happen in order to reduce the prominence of two new characters to smaller parts. This makes sense since there is still a lot to be discovered about the main characters Rey (Daisy Ridley), Finn (John Boyega) and Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac).

“I said before there were two young female roles, now I actually heard that the rewrite will make these roles smaller,” said Wrap reporter Jeff Sneider during Popcorn Talk‘s pocast. “They want to get to know better the characters they already have. So the new rewrite is shrinking the new roles in order to spend more time with Rey, Poe and so on.”

Other than talks of Bel Powley being eyed for a role, no other rumors have circulated in regards to these two new characters appearing in “Episode VIII.”

“Star Wars Episode VIII” is set to feature many of the returning cast as well as new addition Benecio Del Toro. For now “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” is still playing at your local theaters.
