Jamie Foxx has been cast to play Little John in the upcoming film, “Robin Hood: Origins.” He’ll star opposite Taron Egerton is cast as the titular character. Eve Hewson is also set to play the role of Maid Marian. Production is scheduled to begin later this year after Egerton wraps on the sequel to “Kingsman: The Secret Service.”
Foxx’s character is described as “a battle hardened but war weary veteran of the Crusades who starts out distrustful of Robin Hood (they fought on opposite sides), and then warms to the young hero.” This Robin Hood reboot is said to be “gritty,” and is being directed by Otto Bathurst, known for directing episodes of BBC‘s “Peaky Blinders.” The film is written by Joby Harold, who also penned Guy Ritchie’s upcoming King Arthur reboot, “Knights of the Roundtable: King Arthur.” Lionsgate is producing the film.
