In a surprising turn of events, The Broadcast Film Critics Association, through a special vote held by its board of directors added in Star Wars: The Force Awakens as the 11th best picture nominee for January’s Critics Choice Awards. This comes “in the wake of an unprecedented outcry” from its members, who were unable to see The mega blockbuster smash prior to casting their nomination ballots. This is a rare occurrence as this only happened once before in 2000 when the association added in the movie “Cast Away” after the nominations were announced.
The 21st Critics’ Choice Awards, will air Jan. 17 on the A&E networks, and for first time ever include both film and TV nomination categories. These will all be handed out over the course of three hours. The show’s host will be none other than “Deadpool” star T.J. Miller.
