Marvel may have found its perfect father for Peter Quill, a.k.a. Star-Lord, in its upcoming “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2:” Kurt Russell. According to The Wrap, Russell is director James Gunn’s top choice.

There has been no official offer for him to be cast or even a reading of the script, but meetings will take place soon.

If the Disney veteran chooses the cast, his character is still a mystery; He will not be J’Son of Spartax like in the comics and all that has been confirmed is that he is a member of an ancient alien race, and described as an “angel,” but also a “jackass.”

Russell recently appeared as Mr. Nobody in “Furious 7,” Sheriff Franklin Hunt in “Bone Tomahawk,” and is also starring in “The Hateful Eight” to be released on Christmas Day.

“Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” goes into production early next year and will be released on May 5, 2017.
