Jazz Legend and Grammy Award Winner Herbie Hancock has officially been cast in Luc Besson‘s upcoming film, “Valerian.”
The announcement was made on Bessons’ Instagram account in a post that reads “Herbie Hancock is a legend. His music was my only friend at 14… I learn so much listening this genius… I’m proud to have him for a role in #Valerian.”
Hancock joins Ethan Hawke, Dane DeHaan, Cara Delevingne and Clive Owen in the new sci-fi film set in the 28th century, an age in which humanity have gained the ability to time travel. The picture follows characters Valerian and Laureling, two agents for Spatio-Temporal Service, an agency charged with protecting the planets of the Terran Empire.
Lesson is set to write and direct the picture, while his wife, Virginie Besson Silla, will produce and Europacorp will distribute.
A release date has yet to be announced.
