With only a couple days left until its release, “Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens“ is becoming one of 2015’s most anticipated film. So much so that Rolling Stones has written an article on the film and its cast covering what was done when making the film.
The thing that stood out to me the most was when cast members describe how dedicated Adam Driver was to his character Kylo Ren, including “that [it] sometimes meant staying in character on set, and even leaving his mask on between scenes.” Even when talking to the melted helmet of Darth Vader, Driver would stay in the world of Star Wars saying, “When someone sets the scene for you, it’s always very funny. The idea that in this reality, Darth Vader is real.”
I always love it when an actor takes the initiative to make their role realistic. Even though it is likely that Driver will be wearing Kylo Ren’s mask for most of the film, actually delivering lines while wearing the mask I feel adds depth and character to when the face is revealed. And the impact about who Kylo Ren’s true identity is will be a bigger impact.
The film will also see the introduction of characters Rey (Daisy Ridley), Finn (John Boyega), Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac), Maz Kanata (Lupita Nyong’o), Captain Phasma (Gwendoline Christie), General Hux (Domhnall Gleeson), and Supreme Leader Snoke (Andy Serkis), with the return of characters Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill), Han Solo (Harrison Ford), and Leia Organa (Carrie Fisher). Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens will release December 17, 2015.
