Queen fans have been anxiously awaiting a Freddy Mercury biopic for years, and with the departure of the film’s original front man, Sacha Bohem Carter, it seemed the project would never take off.
However, the film may have finally caught its second wind.
In a turn of fortune, it was announced that Anthony McCarten has officially signed on to pen the script, while Ben Whishaw is in talks to fill Carter’s shoes and take on the role of Mercury himself.
This is big news for fans as McCarten is known for having written the screenplay for “The Theory of Everything,” while Whishaw played Q in “Skyfall” and “Spectre,” two of the newer additions to the James Bond movie series.
While these announcements may have breathed new life into the project, it seems as though fans will have to continue to wait for the picture, as no other details have been confirmed.
