“Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation” director Christopher McQuarrie previously said that having a new director for each Mission Impossible installment would be beneficial to the longevity of the series.

McQuarrie received critical acclaim for Rogue Nation, and under his direction the movie grossed $682.3 million in profits. However, it seems he’s not taking his own advice when it comes to the future of Mission Impossible.

According to sources who claim to be “close to the situation,” McQuarrie is currently in talks to direct the sixth “Mission Impossible” movie. While the newest installment does not have an official title, it is reportedly in development.

So far representatives for both Paramount and McQuarrie have not commented on the news.
