Spectre‘s success has proven to be massive as it continues to dominate the domestic box office as well as global box offices which now includes China.
The 24th James Bond film not only topped the Chinese box office this past weekend but it also broke records for the biggest opening weekend for a 2D Hollywood film there as well. Now, with this opening, the film has grossed a whooping $48.6 million.
The film’s promotional efforts were also given quite a boost by the visit of the film’s stars Daniel Craig and Lea Seydoux as well as producer Barbara Broccoli to China.
China’s The Ex Files 2 held on strong with $17.3 million and remained in second place. After 10 days, its overal total stands at $34.7 million.
Former chart topper, The Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials, dropped down to third place this weekend with a seven day score of $8.23 million from 2,022 venues. Its cumulative after 12 days is $29.8 million.
Chinese romance, Les Aventures d’Anthony, opened in fourth place with a three day gross of over $6.34 million.
Everest dropped back from fourth to fifth place, with a downward slide of 67% and $3.87 million. After 13 days though it grossed $15.6 million.
Spectre is currently still playing in theaters.
