Lotus Entertainment is launching Irish filmmakers Kristin Sheridan film at the American Film Market, which she will write and direct the biopic of Amy Winehouse. Amy Winehouses’s tragic life story will be getting the biopic treatment. Naomi Rapace is being thought of to portray the soulful singer in the movie titled Amy Winehouse. Lotus Entertainment has come abroad to finance, executive produce and sell internationally while, Joshua Maurer and Alixandre Witlin of City Entertainment are producing with Tristan Orpen Lynch. Co-representing domestic rights are CAA and UTA. Lotus is introducing Amy Winehouse to foreign buyers currently gathered at the American Film market in Santa Monica. To obtain music rights there is talk with Universal and Sony right now. The album Frank by Winehouse was a critical success, even though it was her 2006 sophomore album, Back to Black. That album brought the soulful British recording artist to international success and showed a lot into her personal life, it also showed us into her world filled with drug and alcohol use as well as her abusive relationship with her boyfriend Blake Fielder-Civil. Amy Winehouse had gotten five Grammy nominations and three wins, including awards for best new artist, record of the year and song of the year for her hit single “Rehab” on her album Back to Black. Winehouse is credited for helping other soulful artists come out of the dark like Adele. On July 2011 at the age 0f 27 Winehouse died from alcohol poisoning. After her death, her album continued to sell and became the U.K.’s second best selling album of the 21st century with over 20 million copies sold to date. Winehouse’s life had been showed in the 2015 documentary called Amy, at the Cannes Film Festival. It was one of the best reviewed film of the year and passes all expectations, it also earned 25 million dollars. In July A24 had releases the movie in the U.S. But unfortunately Mitch Winehouse had spoke against the documentary. Release date is not available yet, being it is still in the works.
