Michael Mann’s long-in-the-works Ferrari project Enzo Ferrari is finally taking off. Christian Bale is set to play the titular italian mogul himself and now Noomi Rapace is close to joining the cast. Rapace is currently in talks to play Ferrari’s wife, Laura Dominica. The long-awaited project finally got the traction it needed when it got funding from Vendian and YooZoo Bliss Film Fund. The movie will look at Ferrari’s ascent to the top, working for Alfa Romeo, first as a racer and then as a developer, founding his own company in 1947, racing victories in the ’50s and ’60s, letting Fiat slowly take control of the company. But it also will show Ferrari’s tyrannical and manipulative nature and how he pushed drivers to the breaking point and beyond, his hatred of his lifelong marriage and his many affairs throughout his life.
The project is eyeing an $80 million budget. This will be Mann’s first picture with Paramount since 2004’s Collateral. Enzo Ferrari has no release date as of yet.
