So this past week Vin Diesel who is getting ready to star in the upcoming The Last Witch Hunter later this month announced that the “Fast and Furious” franchise is actually going to end with ten films and that the next three (which are the last ones) will be a trilogy. “Universal has been so good to me and so trusting of the vision … they have been like family … I promised the studio I would deliver one last trilogy to end the saga,” he wrote on his facebook page.

Now I have enjoyed this franchise greatly. The first film was kind of weak compared to the others the second was great, third film now that I look back on it was garbage, The fourth was in my opinion the best one of the series,5 and 6 up the anti and were a lot of fun to watch and the last one was a bit lackluster but still managed to be good and sent off Paul Walker’s Brian (R.I.P) off well. Now I have been against an 8th film since it was announced but to hear they are gonna make two more after this is honestly incredibly stupid.

Reason #1 it is stupid because the franchise has explored so many of the different ways you can utilize cars outside of regular street racing WHAT ELSE COULD YOU POSSIBLY THINK OF FOR THREE MORE FILMS!!! Reason #2 it is stupid because one f your lead characters is gone in more ways than one (again R.I.P) they have drove home the fact that Dom and Brian work well as a team and are stronger together it is going to be verrrrry difficult to try and convince fans a new dynamic for the team will work and come off just as well as the previous 7. Reason #3 it is stupid is because New York is the worst place to try and film a racing film. It is too crowded it is almost impossible to film the kind of car stunts this franchise does in a city like that.

Diesel has somewhat expressed interest in directing one of the flicks, “My producing partner Neal [Moritz] would love for me to just sign off on a director, but this is too special a franchise, so these matters have to be very carefully handled,” Diesel wrote. “To be clear, NO ONE has been offered to helm Fast 8 yet … let alone seen a script.” I am not surprised he would want to direct one of these but still leave it to the experienced folks vin.

Despite my initial qualms about the 8th film is still happening and despite it getting derailed due to losing director James Wan, it still has a slated release date of April 14, 2017.
