“Mission Impossible” fans everywhere were happy to enjoy the fifth instalment in the franchise over the summer. In China Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation was the highest grossing 2D film in the country’s history.
The reason China is being brought up, is because the most populated country in the world is allowing more American films to be released, and creating a huge influence on worldwide box office success, therefore Hollywood has now tried to appeal to their audiences. China still has set limits on how many foreign films are released in their country.
In total worldwide box office records, the film grossed a total of 124 million dollars, making it the highest grossing 2D film surpassing Interstellar which made 122 million dollars.
2D films have a disadvantage among mainstream audiences with the advent of 3D technology, but Mission Impossible Rogue Nation persevered by making more money than the 3D summer blockbuster Terminator Genisys.
Regardless of how much money the film continues to make, there is always room for more success with a potential sequel in the works.
