Michael Stahl-David, best known for 2008’s Cloverfield and HBO’s Show Me A Hero, has joined the cast of Rob Reiner’s Lyndon B. Johnson biopic LBJ. Stahl-David will be playing Bobby Kennedy and joins Woody Harrelson as LBJ, Bill Pullman as Ralph Yarborough, and Kim Allen as Jackie Kennedy.

The plot, with a script by Joey Hartstone, follows Johnson’s life from West Texas to the coveted White House. After the 1963 assassination of John F. Kennedy, Johnson was propelled into the presidency and signed historic civil rights legislation while in office.

Bobby Kennedy was the US Attorney General during this time but resigned nine months after his brother’s death to run for the US Senate. He became the front runner for the Democratic nomination during the 1968 presidential election, but was assassinated that same year in Los Angeles.

LBJ will soon begin filming in New Orleans, Dallas, and Washington, DC, with a scheduled release date sometime in 2016.
