Universal studios wanted director James Foley to direct the second chapter in the Fifty Shades trilogy, and that is exactly what happened. The second film is called Fifty Shades Darker with Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson reprising their roles.
After the previous director, Sam Taylor-Johnson, announced she would not be returning a several month journey to find a new director began. James Foley was the first name on their list and after a few weeks it became official.
Foley previously worked on films such as After Dark, My Sweet, At Close Range, Fear and worked on the Netflix smash hit House of Cards.
Production of Fifty Shades Darker starts early in 2016 and the release date is scheduled for Valentine’s day 2017.
