2x Oscar nominee Will Smith stars in a new drama that focuses on concussions in the NFL. The movie is aptly titled Concussion and the first trailer is officially out. It is a true story that focuses on the efforts of Smith’s character Dr. Bennet Omalu. Omalu is the Nigerian doctor who discovered Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy in two NFL Players whom we see are portrayed by Richard T. Jones, and Smith’s “Suicide Squad” co star, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje. In his talks with Alec Baldwin’s character Dr Julian Bates, we come to learn that Omalu has gotten himself in a deep situation as he is trying to convince the members of the NFL to tell the truth about the serious head injuries and life-long debilitating problems as a result of repeated concussions in games. However the NFL continues to deny it which makes Omalu’s plan to reveal the truth much more difficult and potentially dangerous for his career. However as the trailer shows Omalu is determined to see this revelation become known to the public and for the NFL to admit that these issues are real.
