A second trailer for Director Ridley Scott’s latest feature The Martian has been released. This new trailer helps clarify the plot a little bit more. Matt Damon plays Mark Watney an Astronaut who on a Dangerous mission on Mars gets hit with flying debris and is sent out of sight in the midst of a nasty storm on the planet. Believing he is dead his crew leaves in the spaceship they came on. Surprisingly enough Watney actually survived and made it into a ship where as he see he is keeping a video log. Watney puts into perspective the challenge he is facing. He is on a planet that takes 4 years to reach through space travel, his suit as well as his base camp is designed to last 31 days and so he must learn to grow food and make water on a planet that doesnt grow anything and to try and get a message seen by NASA and his crew so they can come rescue him.
The trailer also gives us insight to the fact that not everyone thinks its a good idea to go back out there and get him. Watney’s crew contemplates breaking the rules and saving him. Basically as Jessica Chastain’s character put it a full on “Mutiny.” The pressure is on in the trailer for this NASA crew to make it Mars, get Watney and make it back before they all die. As shown near the end the World is watching.
The Entire cast of this picture includes Matt Damon, Jessica Chastain, Chiwetel Ejifor, Kristen Wiig, Kate Mara, Michael Peña, Jeff Daniels, Sean Bean, Sebastian Stan, Aksel Hennie, Donald Glover and Mackenzie Davis. The screenplay by Drew Goodard is adapted from the novel of the same name by Andy Weir. The Martian hits theaters October 2nd. Scroll down for the trailer
