Lionsgate has recently announced that the franchise My Little Pony will be getting its own feature film. They have also revealed a big name that will be joining the cast: Kristin Chenoweth. Chenoweth was just in theaters this year for her supporting live-action role in The Boy Next Door. She is best known for her role as Glinda The Good Witch is the hit Broadway musical Wicked. Lionsgate will be working with Hasbro– the toy company that produces the My Little Pony line. Meghan McCarthy will be writing the screenplay. McCarthy has been involved with the franchise since she wrote the 2013’s My Little Pony: Equestria Girls. It has also been announced that Jayson Theissen, who directed My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, will be directing the new film. Kristin Chenoweth will be playing a completely new character in the franchise. Tara Strong, Cathy Weseluck, Andrea Libman, Tabitha St. Germain and Ashleigh Ball, who all played characters of the Mane 6 in My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, will be returning as their roles for the feature film. The official plot description has also been announced to the public: “In the movie, a new dark force threatens Ponyville, and the Mane 6- Twilight Sparkle, Applejack, Rainbow Dash, Pinkie Pie, Fluttershy and Rarity- embark on an unforgettable journey beyond Equestria where they meet new friends and exciting challenges on a quest to use the magic of friendship and save their home”. The release date has not yet been announced.
