The newly rebooted Fantastic Four has hit a serious rock bottom. The movie over the weekend suffered from several polarizing reviews and by Sunday it ranked in an abysmal $26.2 million dollars which is way below their $120 million dollar production budget. The film also suffered from an damaging tweet by Josh Trank saying ” A year ago I had a fantastic version of this. And it would have received great reviews. You’ll probably never see it. That’s reality though.” All of this has lead to the movie having officially flopped at the box office and with its 9% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, it is the worst reviewed Marvel film ever ranking below Elektra which had a 10% rating,

Production difficulties are reported to what may have doomed the picture. Trank reportedly showed very erratic behavior on and off set. This same erratic behavior that cost him his place as director for the Star Wars Rogue One film. Trank seemingly acknowledge the tension between him and the studio, blaming blamming their mandated reshoots in another tweet last Thursday that got deleted. Fox distribution chief Chris Aronson spoke on the matter and said  “The confluence of clearly the decidedly negative reviews with the combination of social media did not help the cause,”

Fantastic Four currently sits in second place below Mission Impossible Rogue Nation in the Box Office. The film will need a major boost from foreign crowds to avoid being a writeoff.
