Must say I do miss the ol days when almost every Adam Sandler movie you saw was hilarious or at least well crafted. Anger Management, The Wedding Singer, Eight crazy nights, You don’t mess with the Zohan, and Just Go With It are some great ones I had the pleasure of viewing from him. Now it seems lately he has been in nothing but crap lately and unfortunately Pixels can be added to that growing list. A movie that should have and almost did work, ended up being just plain terrible.

Sandler plays Sam Brenner who during his childhood was a skilled gamer who entered the arcade game championships but came in second place. He was childhood, friends with Will Cooper (Kevin James) who grew up to become president while Brenner works for a software company. One night an army base in Guam is attacked by aliens who pixelate anything they hit and are in the form of iconic video games. These unique aliens make their way to the U.S and it becomes a national security issue. Cooper enlist Brennar, another video game expert Ludow Lamonsoff (Josh Gad), Donkey King expert Eddie Plant (Game of Thrones Peter Dinklage), as well as Lieutenant Colonel Violet Van Patten (Michelle Monaghan) to fight off against this most unusual enemy.

Ok one of the first things that popped in my head upon watching this was why in the hell is Kevin James the president in this movie? He just embarrassed himself here in my opinion such a miscast for that role. The movie is not as bad as people made it out to be but the story and comedy are abysmal to say the least just not very good at all. Josh gad is actually the only real funny one here in this movie. Adam Sandler sucks here and I have no idea why Peter Dinklage took this up after so many years and Emmy nominations on Game of Thrones I was expecting him to join something more substantial then this.

Decent visual effects and action sequences. Really enjoyed the parking lot action scene. Yet I must say the biggest problem here was that the script is terrible. The plot could have actually worked if a good portion of the movie was all war. Finally a really stupid gag with the one pixel alien kept annoying me.

The movie was ambitious but honest to god it should have been reworked. This gets a solid 2 stars from me nothing higher, not worth the money at all. Skip it please!
