After Tom Cruise recently spilled the beans that Mission Impossible 6 is likely to happen, Paramount Pictures has as of yesterday confirmed that Mission Impossible 6 is officially greenlit and will be developed. Also as expected Tom Cruise will be returning for his 6th run as IMF Agent Ethan Hunt. Paramount Pictures Vice Chairman Rob Moore told Variety “We’re very happy to be developing this movie with Tom.” He further added that “There’s no question that Ethan Hunt deserves another film.”

The current 5th Installment, Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation, opened to an impressive $121 million globally and $56 million domestically.

Paul Dergarabedian, senior media analyst at Rentrak, said that he is not surprised another “Mission: Impossible” is in the works. “I think it’s very smart,”.  “Given the performance of ‘Rogue Nation,’ there has to be another movie.”

Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation sees the return of Ethan Hunt and his team as they face their greatest challenge yet, The Syndicate, an Anti IMF that is out to hunt the remaning members of the team. The movie is directed by Christopher McQuarrie and stars Tom Cruise, Simon Pegg, Jeremy Renner, Rebecca Ferguson, Ving Rhames, Sean Harris and Alec Baldwin. The movie is in theaters now
