Michael Bay as we all know is a man of simple taste when it comes to making his films. CGI, comedy, action sequences, and tons of explosions. He’s become known for several box office hits such as Bad Boys I and II, Armageddon, Pain and Gain, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and of course all 4 “Transformers” films. Bay has produced a number of other films in different genre’s but only once has he directed something as different as an historical drama. That one picture he did was none other than 2001’s Pearl Harbor a retelling of the historic day in the years of World War II.

After last years Transformers Age of Extinction (which by the way I hated), Bay Ventures back into the war drama Territory with 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi. A trailer has been released and The story is about six members of the security team hired to protect the American Diplomatic compound. The compound was under attack on September 11th 2012 by radical Islamic Terrorist and the movie looks at the day of that attack and the battle between the security team and the terrorists.

I was very intrigued when i saw this trailer due to it’s similar tone and score as Black Hawk Down. Even further more the film has that same film’s intensity, I mean in the trailer it says that the threat level in Benghazi, Libya was critical. Does it or does it not make you think of the high level danger that was in Mogadishu out in Somalia?

I must say I am a little disappointed in the lack of star power here…what am I saying there is only one real star here and that’s John Krasinski of The Office. Krasinski I must say made a good move going for something as totally serious as this flick. Even though it lacks in star power it still doesn’t take away from how the film itself looks and it looks pretty awesome.

I’m glad Bay is venturing into some different territory now and is challenging himself a little as a director. I think this is going to be a really good film for him at this point in his career and i think he is going to impress a lot of people. 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi will be hitting theaters January 15th. Scroll down to check out the trailer.
