Actor Dwayne Johnson is officially set to star in the movie remake of the former hit show Baywatch. For those of you who do not know Baywatch was a hit television series on NBC back in the late 90’s despite having premiered in 1989. It revived the career of David Hasselhoff and helped make Pamela Anderson a breakout star in the entertainment world. The show ran for a number of years and it even changed its name and location in 1999 to Baywatch Hawaii before officially ending in 2001.
Due to the shows popularity a remake was long rumored out in Hollywood and was confirmed back in 2012. Originally the creator of Reno 911, Robert Ben Garant was set to helm the picture but now Seth Gordon will be taking on the directors chair. Gordon will be working from a script written by Damian Shannon and Mark Swift.
There is currently no news on casting and the movie’s starting production date as of yet.
